This hike to the Zallinger hut starts in Compaccio and leads through a wonderful alpine landscape

This more than 16-km long route is one of the longest hikes on the Alpe di Siusi. We start from Compaccio on the Alpe di Siusi and walk to the Hotel Panorama where we take path no. 7 to the Baita Rosa Alpina (Almrosen Hütte).
We follow the forest path to the Molignon hut (Mahlknechthütte) where we stop for a break. From here, we proceed along a narrower route crossing two small valleys at the foot of the Denti di Terra Rossa which were formed by the inlets of the Dialer brook. At the crossroads we remain on the forest path no. 7 that takes us through an alpine landscape characterised by a rich flora and fauna and marvellous panoramic views of the Sassolungo and the Puez and Odle groups.
The next section of the itinerary runs across Swiss stone pine forests with some clearings before arriving at the next crossroads. Path no. 7 ascends to the hut with its romantic chapel. After a stop at the Zallinger hut (2,037 m a.s.l.) we proceed along path no. 9 which descends to Malga Tirler paralleling the Zallinger brook. At the edge of the route lie the witches' springs surrounded by legends from the past. The itinerary no. 9 arrives in Saltria, the final destination of today's hike. Here, we take the bus back to Compaccio.
