Starting point of our hiking tour is the parking space near the Schönblick Restaurant in Aica di Fié. We follow trail no. 7 in the direction of Mount Cavone. At the first fork we branch off to trail no. 7A, which leads us through a beautiful spruce forest, offering great views of Fié allo Sciliar and Castel Presule, and gets soon steeper on its way to our destination.

The Cavone mountain hut (1,737 m a.s.l.) is a very popular family destination, also because of its home-made dishes cooked of the fresh garden herbs and vegetables. Moreover, it lies in the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park and offers beautiful views of the Catinaccio Group, the Vajolet Towers and Mt Latemar.

After a stop we continue our hike to the peak of Mt Balzo (1,834 m), which we reach in about 20 minutes. From the peak cross we enjoy a breathtaking view of the Valle Isarco and the highplateau of Fiè allo Sciliar to the Tires valley, as well as of the surrounding mountain ranges. After another stop at the Cavone mountain hut and a delicious lunch we start our way back to our starting point on trails no. 4 and 4B. At the Wuhner Pond we make some photos of the impressive Catinaccio Group.

Information: altogether, this is a very beautiful hiking tour without any difficulties, offering great panoramic views. However, the length of the tour should not be underestimated.
