Aica di Fiè

Aica is located at the southernmost point of the Presule plateau, above the Tires valley and opposite Collepietra

Aica di Fiè denominates the area at the northern slope of the Tires valley, where the cultural landscape is characterised by vineyards and orchards, up to 900 m a.s.l. The actual village, Aica di Sopra, is located at 870 m and has been established round the St John The Baptist Church, dating back to 1816. However, the lower part of the tower and the apse are Romanesque elements - the church was already mentioned in 1250. Boasting several recently constructed buildings, today Aica di Fié is inhabited by some 400 people.

On the slope leading down into the Tires valley and the Valle Isarco, there are the farms of Aica di Sotto, a scattered settlement, whose inhabitants cultivate the sun-drenched hillsides. In order to get familiar with the ancient buildings and the environs of Aica di Fiè, we recommend you the so-called "Oachner Höfeweg", the Farm Trail of Aica starting in Presule and leading to Santa Caterina. Above all in spring and in autumn, this trail is ideal for extended walks. Also the mountain tour to the Monte Cavone mountain hut and Mt Balzo (1,834 m) starts at the village.
