The Alpe di Siusi is a region of unique natural beauty. To preserve it also for future generations, the road leading towards the Alpe di Siusi pasture in the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park is closed to traffic from 9 am to 5 pm. During the day, you can reach it only via the Alpe di Siusi Cable Car or by bus. Exception: those having their apartment or hotel room on the Alpe di Siusi (e.g. at Compaccio) are allowed to drive there by car. During the off-seasons (from November to early December and from April to the end of May), however, the cable car stays closed and the road to the Alpe di Siusi up to Compaccio is open to traffic.
The Alpe di Siusi Cable Car is among the most modern facilities of its kind all over Europe. The valley station is situated in Siusi allo Sciliar, near to the Matschnsäge sawmill (Sciliar road, 39). From here, the cable car - with a length of approx. 4.3 km - directly takes you to the mountain station at Compaccio. Within only 15 minutes it manages an overall altitude difference of 800 meters. You can take your bicycle with you as well as your four-legged friend (lead and muzzle must be worn).
Directly next to the valley station, there is a large free parking lot for cars and buses. Furthermore, there is a shuttle service taking you from the valley station to Castelrotto, Fiè allo Sciliar, Siusi allo Sciliar and Passo Pinei. The Dolomiti SuperSummer Card as well as the Alpe di Siusi Gold Card and a Combi Card.
