Tagusa

High above the entrance of the Val Gardena, at about 900 m asl, there is the little village of Tagusa.

The mountain village of Tagusa nestles in the heart of lushly green meadows and forests stretching like a terrace above the Val Gardena, the Valle Isarco and the Brembach valley. Close to the St Magdalene Church located on a hill in the centre, there is the former school of Tagusa. Once upon a time it was one of the one-room schoolhouses of South Tyrol in which children of various grades were taught all together. Today it hosts the School Museum, exhibiting a large number of historical teaching and instruction material.

Today Tagusa does not need an own school anymore, as the road connections and means of public transport have moved the village closer to the main village of Castelrotto. By the way, from Tagusa you can also enjoy a great view on the Valle Isarco, the Sarentino Alps, the village of Laion and even on the lower part of the Val Gardena. Far away from hustle and bustle, Tagusa is inhabited by some 100 inhabitants.
