When travelling towards Fiè or Castelrotto you will see it: shortly before Fiè allo Sciliar, high above the road on your right, towers mighty Castel Presule. First written documents date back to the year 1279, mentioning a so-called "castrum presile". Around 1500 AD Leonhard von Völs renovated the fascinating building in Renaissance style. Those visiting the castle should cast a glance at the famous collection of arms and numerous other items such as paintings or furniture mainly originating in the 19th century.
The castle, moreover, is a popular venue for all kinds of events in summer months, ranging from concerts and guided visits to theatre performances, exhibitions and much more. It even hosts part of the annual Oswald von Wolkenstein Ride in late spring, which definitely forms every year's highlight.
