A pleasant winter hike in the surroundings of the Spitzbühlhütte hut

The starting point of our family-friendly hike is the mountain station of the Alpe di Siusi Cable Car in Compaccio (1,850 m a.s.l.). We take a moderately uphill path following the signpost Alpenhotel Panorama until we arrive at the mountain station of the skilift where also the aforementioned hotel is situated.
At the mountain station we cross the ski slope and walk to the rifugio Laurin along a flat path. At the hut we cross the ski slope at the mountain station of the Laurin chair lift before entering the Alpe di Siusi Snowpark. On our left we can see a huge broom dedicated to the Sciliar witches who, according to legends, used to spread terror among the population a long time ago.
Thanks to its considerable distance from the ski slopes, the next section is dominated by quietness. We proceed slightly downhill near the cross-country ski trails. The Sciliar massif accompanies us during the entire hike to the hut and after 1.5 hours of hiking we eventually reach the Spitzbühlhütte hut where we stop for a delicious lunch. We return to Compatsch by retracing our steps. This time, however, we admire the impressive Sassolungo and Sassopiatto peaks.
