Winter Hike from the Laghetto di Fiè to the Malga Tuff

A comfortable winter hike can be enjoyed starting at the Laghetto di Fiè lake to the Malga Tuff alpine pasture

The Tuffalm alpine pasture is idyllically located straight beneath the Sciliar mountain. A nice walk through the snow leads us from the parking space at the Laghetto di Fiè lake to the alpine pasture. At the beginning of our walk we round the lake which is totally frozen now. Then we take the hiking route no. 1 which proceeds slightly uphill through the forest, past the little Lake Huber.

Soon afterwards we reach a junction: path no. 1 branches off to the right whereas the forest path no. 1B proceeds to the left. So we can choose between the 1km longer forest path 1B (less steep) and the shorter but steeper forest path no. 1 – both proceed up to the Tuffalm alpine pasture. The mountain hut itself is a charming place, located in a sunny meadow just beneath the Sciliar and offers a fantastic view from the Alpi Sarentine Alps until the Ortles mountain group.

Not only in summer the alpine pasture is a paradise for families with children: an area of the snowy meadows every year turns into a little piste where the young and the old can enjoy sledging to the fullest. In winter, the mountain hut is opened during the Christmas holidays and at the weekends until the end of January.

In winter 2024/25 the Malga Tuff Alpine Pasture is closed due to renovation work.
