The Bull of St. Valentine

On the hill near San Valentino, once upon a time a bull found a bell which protects from severe thunderstorms

According to an ancient legend, once upon a time a bull raged on the hill near the hamlet of San Valentino until it found a bell buried in the soil. The bell was salvaged and brought to the St. Valentine Church which is located at approx. 1,130 m a.s.l.

It’s said that its toll protected the village from extreme weather and was therefore feared and hated by the Sciliar Witches. They were known to be responsible for severe thunderstorms around Mt. Sciliar. Since then, the bell has been known as “The Bull of St. Valentine” and still protects the area from storms.
