Eight wooden huts, the St. Nicholas parade and the Krampus run add a magical touch to the village square of Castelrotto from late November to late December. The Christmas Market is open on weekends and public holidays during Advent. The Castelrotto Parish Church, known for its imposing bell tower, and the wonderful Sciliar massif provide the perfect backdrop. The small huts feature handmade items, inspiring gift ideas and hot drinks to ward off the winter chill.
Or how about trying the delicious Castelrotto Krapfen? They are filled with dried pears, cinnamon and plum jam. You can combine a visit to the market with a stop at the Castelrotto Museum of Traditional Costumes or a spot of ice skating: The museum and ice rink are also located by the village square. The highlight of the Castelrotto Mountain Christmas (Kastelruther Bergweihnacht) is the Christmas concert by the Kastelruther Spatzen in the Telfen tennis hall.
If you do not have tickets, you can also see the folk music group shortly beforehand at their autograph session in the village square. The Christmas Market is complemented by the "Art under the Sciliar" exhibition at the Lächler art gallery. And how to get there? The 170 bus route connects the provincial capital of Bolzano directly with Castelrotto, with a journey time of around 45 minutes. With the SouthTyrol Guest Pass, you can use public transport throughout South Tyrol for free. Castelrotto also has several public car parks and two multi-storey car parks available.
