Hiking from Castelrotto to the witches’ benches

A pleasant hike of 4 hours, featuring an altitude difference of 1,100 m, from Castelrotto to Bullaccia.

“Marinzen”, that’s the name of the high plateau of Castelrotto, and this is also the first destination of our hike. Starting from Castelrotto we follow the hiking path n° 4 in the direction of the tavern called “Tusch”. Across vast meadows and fields, always on path n° 4, we reach the mountain station of the chair lift from Castelrotto to Marinzen on 1,458 m. This is where the path n° 9 takes you to the “Schafstall”, which in fact means sheep barn.

We continue our hike on path n° 9 and soon also reach the peak of our hike, which is the Alpe di Bullaccia at (2,162 m asl). This vast plateau extends on an area of 4 km. Via path n° 24 we get to the end of our hike, which are the “Witches’ benches”, called “Hexenbänke in German.
