Sciliar Nature Park

The Sciliar nature park is full of stunning flowers, animals and mountains

South Tyrol features a total of 8 nature parks plus 1 national park. These parks include fairly large areas dedicated to the conservation of the local flora and fauna. One of them is found within easy reach: the Sciliar Catinaccio Nature Park.

Located in the western South Tyrolean Dolomites, the Sciliar Nature Park covers an area of 6,796 hectares and includes the municipalities of Castelrotto, Tires and Fiè allo Sciliar. Together with the landscape conservation area of Alpe di Siusi it forms one huge natural area. At its heart is the Sciliar mountain, a massif typical to the western Dolomites which has become the emblem of South Tyrol. The Sciliar Nature Park also includes the Val Ciamin valley and, since 2003, the legendary Catinaccio massif.

Thanks to the special geological conditions, the park features an outstanding flora and fauna. There is also a little pond, known as the Laghetto di Fiè. What about some relaxing hours on its shores on a hot summer day?
