Along the Bullaccia round trail to the Witches’ Benches

A pleasant hike around the 2,176 m high Mt Bullaccia takes us to wonderful viewpoints

Compaccio on the Alpe di Siusi, easily accessible by the Alpe di Siusi Cable Car, marks the starting point of the Bullaccia round trail. We follow the signposts 14 and PU, on the asphalted path up to 2,000 m a.s.l. A beautiful panorama path snakes afterwards through mountain meadows, passing the Bullaccia (1,950 m) and Arnica (2,054 m) mountain huts. From the wooden weather cross we enjoy a fantastic view on the villages of Castelrotto and Laion in the Valle Isarco as well as on the Marinzen alpine pasture.

We continue our hike to the Witches' Benches, an old place of pagan worship and of the dances of the Sciliar Witches. Nowadays the rock - as well as the Fillen Cross which lies east of the Witches' Benches - offers a wonderful view on the Val Gardena, the Puez Group and the Odle Group.

Finally, the path no. 24 takes us to the Bullaccia mountain inn next to the mountain station of the Bullaccia lift. Right behind, there's the "Engelrast" (Angel's Rest) panoramic platform with a wonderful view on the Dolomites. The descent to our starting point Compaccio is steep and short.
